Welcome to the TN AFPM Website

The Tennessee Association of Floodplain Management (TN AFPM) brings together people with a common interest in floodplain management.  Members include: TN local government floodplain administrators, elected officials, public employees, local, state and federal agencies, engineers, land surveyors, planners, contractors, lenders, insurance agents, real estate professionals, students, and corporate partners.

Our objectives include promoting interest in flood damage abatement, improving cooperation among government agencies, and encouraging innovatie approaches to managing Tennessee's floodplains.  In addition, we believe a unified membership can present one strong voice to communicate with state legislators on flood-related issues.

TN AFPM was organized in 2009 and is a pfrofessional association for floodplain management pracitioners.  We are working hard to achieve "Chapter" status of the Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM).  See Starting a Chapter for information on our progress.

MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN

I am proud to introduce you to the Tennessee Association of Floodplain Management (TN AFPM) website.  I hope you will take a few minutes to browse our site to find information about the association, its mission and purpose.  We are in the initial stages of formation and development of our association, but are moving rapidly toward achieving "chapter" status of the Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM).  I encourage you to consider membership in the TN AFPM.

TN AFPM is a non-profit organization of professionals involved in floodplain management within the State of Tennessee.  The association provides an additional link between state/federal government agencies and the local community official, private company and individuals.  We produce a quarterly newsletter which serves as an informational and educational tool for our sponsors and members.

The association also sponsors an annual conference and is dedicated to improving the management of Tennessee's floodplains through education, cooperation and communication.  The annual conference is a great way to network with others in the floodplain management field.

If you are interested in becoming part of our association, please view the membership page or contact us for more information. Please let us know your thoughts and help us get the word out about the association. Your suggestions and recommendations for improvement to the website are also welcome and encouraged.

I hope you’ve noted our Sponsor’s section of the Web Site. Click on the Sponsor’s Logo to view information or to learn how to become a sponsor.

It is our intent to support floodplain management activities and training throughout the State.

Sincerely,

Alan M. (Mike) Armstrong, TN AFPM Chairman
